Be prepared "to grasp mentally" Bible truths

This book is a somewhat updated version of an early 1980s book, United in Worship of the Only True God that Jehovah's Witnesses used as a Bible study aid. It's organized topically with verses assigned to chapters dealing with the resurrection hope, God's Kingdom, baptism, practicing godly devotion at home, and understanding Jesus' role in the outworking of God's purpose. It always surprises me to see these for sale here, as they are available free of charge at any local Kingdom Hall (if they happen to be in stock).

A BRIEF "POPULAR" EXPOSITION BY THE WATCHTOWER

This 2002 publication of the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society (Jehovah's Witnesses) is of the 4"x6", 190-page paperback format they currenly favor for most books. It is very well-illustrated. With an initial pressing of 5,000,000 copies, it was intended for wide distribution.

Like many other recent Watchtower publications, it emphasizes less the distinctive doctrines of the WBTS, and uses language (e.g., little or no "Christendom") less offensive to traditional Christians.

Here are some quotations from the book, that often illustrate distinctive doctrines of the WBTS:

"Jesus Christ, and no human, is our leader." (Pg. 10)
"The 'New World Translation' is especially valuable in doing this because it consistently renders the Hebrew term 'nephesh' and the corresponding Greek word 'psyche' as 'soul.'" (Pg. 81)
"What did (Jesus) mean (in Revelation 1:18)? He was calling attention to his own experience. He too had died. But God did not leave him in Hades. On the third day, Jehovah personally raised him to spirit life and conferred immortality upon him." (Pg. 83)

Andrea Dalle Vacche is a highly skilled IT professional with over 14 years of experience in the IT industry and banking. He graduated from Universita degli Studi di Ferrara with an information technology certification. This laid the technology foundation that Andrea has built on ever since. Andrea has acquired various industry-respected accreditations, which include Cisco, Oracle, RHCE, ITIL, and of course, Zabbix. Zabbix is extremely powerful, extensible and scalable. With this comes complexity. This book does a good job of explaining just how Zabbix works and how to get the most from it. I'd take some exception with the 'Essentials' component of the title, most of the Packt 'Essentials' books are more basic than this. If you're starting from scratch, this may not be the book for you. Recommended.

Book is for an older version - Zabbix 4.2

Book is for an older version (Zabbix 4.2), enough so that I cannot use the code snippets offered. I had hoped to use this book as a walk-thru to get a test environment of Zabbix running, but alas, no. It's more for use as general understanding of how Zabbix works. Also, as the comments say, it's not for the host monitoring, for any agent use is excluded, so it's primarily for snmp and ping and the like.

What's Your Leadership Story?

The story of Herb Greenberg, founder of Caliper, will inspire you to reflect deeply on your own leadership story. Patrick Sweeney is a master storyteller: At times What You Aren’t Seeing reads like a juicy novel and at other times it reads like a Harvard Business School case study. I found myself answering the reflection questions at the end of each chapter to uncover my own leadership story. If you are a coach, you will also find the questions useful in helping your clients search inside themselves for their own leadership story.

I must admit I was skeptical when I first scanned the Table of Contents and saw a chapter titled “Sports”. As a female entrepreneur and lifelong student of leadership I often tire of sports analogies because they are typically about male teams and I don't identify with them. While there is quite a bit written about the Brooklyn Dodgers who were influential in Greenberg’s childhood, I was pleasantly surprised to learn the results of one of Caliper’s studies. Using their in-depth personality assessment, as well as interviews of female leaders in the US and UK, they found that women demonstrate leadership behaviors, such as listening and collaborating, that make them uniquely suited to be successful in today’s global marketplace.

A MUST READ For Leaders and Entrepreneurs!

Very engaging book that provides leadership insights for business owners and entrepreneurs. I found this book to be very informative, entertaining, and educational. I was particularly interested in leadership abilities and found the book helpful in determining leadership qualities and traits. Not only does the book Chronicle the life of CEO Herb Greenberg, but uses his story as a backdrop for important leadership lessons. Each chapter includes self-discovery questions to guide you through assessing your own story and where the potential to lead originates. These questions help to guide your own thought processes and challenge deeply help beliefs that may be holding you back. If you're looking for an entertaining read that will help you on your leadership journey, I highly recommend this book.

A Biography the Leads to Insight

This biography of Herb Greenberg does an excellent job of using his story to help bring out one's own authentic self. It is well-written and well-edited, and a pleasure to read. I left off one star because the book assumes that every reader holds theories of psychology with the same level of "faith" as the author and the subject. I found much to apply, but have misgivings on some psychological theories, so some sections didn't resonate with me. Whether you're from Brooklyn or not, it's worth the read!

About the Author
Chuck Williams is Dean of the College of Business at Butler University. Dr. Williams previously served as Dean of the Eberhardt School of Business at the University of the Pacific and as Associate Professor of Management at the M.J. Neeley School of Business at Texas Christian University. Dr. Williams has also served as Associate Dean and Chair of Management and has taught at Michigan State University and Oklahoma State University. Dr. Williams received his B.A. in psychology from Valparaiso University. He specialized in organizational behavior, human resources, and strategic management while earning his M.B.A and Ph.D. in business administration from Michigan State University. His research interests include employee recruitment and turnover, performance appraisal, and employee training and goal setting. Dr. Williams has published research in the JOURNAL OF APPLIED PSYCHOLOGY, the ACADEMY OF MANAGEMENT, HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT REVIEW, PERSONNEL PSYCHOLOGY, and the ORGANIZATIONAL RESEARCH METHODS JOURNAL. He was a member of the JOURNAL OF MANAGEMENT's editorial board and currently serves as a reviewer for numerous other academic journals.
