I have enjoyed the book, and I would definitely recommend it to novices and experts.

I have enjoyed the book, and I would definitely recommend it to novices and experts. I am a DNA methylation professional, I work on molecular mechanism of DNA methylation. I bought the book to have one place reference for the phenotypic aspects of epigenetics. I think that the author did an excellent job of balancing the text for different types of readers. The author gives the names of the researchers that did some key discoveries, so the interested reader can always go to google.scholar and pubmed for the original publications. The simple language, numerous comparisons and explanations makes this book readable to the people without expertise in epigenetics, but also to an average graduate with BSc degree.

The book is not for people interested in molecular aspects of DNA methylation, but it does not need to be, since such text would not be for a wide audience. My only critique would be that the author should add few more figures, that could make the text bigger pleasure to read and browse. If there are about 10 more drawings in the text I would give it full five stars. I have no doubt that with rapid development of epigenetics, this book will come in newer editions. With few additional drawings, it will be a five star read. One missing figure could be changes in DNA methylation through embryonic development and gametogenesis. Congratulations to the author, Cheers to all readers.

One of my top 10 Science Books of All TIme

This is an extraordinary book in the quality of writing, diagrams, coverage, and insights. I read an earlier 2011 book on epigenetic and this book is far, far better in every way. This area is one of the most intriguing in biological science and revises our understanding of everything from evolution to the mechanics in genetic translation and expression. I will re-read it soon to better appreciate the ideas and just to re-experience the joy I felt when reading it for the first time.

Worth reading twice, at least.

I obtained this book via interlibrary loan. After reading and a couple days reflection, I ordered the book from Amazon. Oscar Wilde once said that a book not worth reading twice is probably not worth reading once. I strongly feel this book passes the OW test with flying colors.

I did not understand everything I read but, so what? I understood the general idea and since I have followed the so-called Human Genome revolution, it has certainly modified and vastly improved my understanding of life, all life. It should also be remembered that science is moving very fast in recent decades and, there will, no doubt, be better and more more knowledge via the bio revolution in the years to come. Do not depend on the media and TV to keep you abreast of these developments. TV hype and limited time cannot even scratch the surface if you want even a basic understanding of this and other, complex subjects.

Francis Crick boasted of having discovered the "Secret of Life" when he, a physicist, discovered the shape of the DNA molecule. It was a great discovery, but thinking that it, and it alone was the Secret of Life is an exaggeration. Followed, of course by similar claims when the human genome was fully mapped. A note of caution based on such claims might be that, we should not, think, that epigenetics is the final answer to our struggle to understand LIFE, per se, in its totality. We may never get to that point but efforts should never cease and we are lucky indeed to have such writers as Nessa Carey to give us a ring side seat into watching these developments unfold. Thank you Nessa.

I have felt tired and more reclusive as each year passes. However, I also still feel the need to teach and give more to the world. The information in this book solidified what I have known to be true about myself for many years...I am an Old Soul. Now so clearly defined, I know I am not alone in the earthly plane.

Thank you for a succinct explanation of an Old Soul. I recommend this for those that know this to be, but desire validation for peaceful living in this soul's incarnation.

Yes! This is a great book.

If you are an old soul I fully recommend you read this book. Even if you are not sure and you wonder if you are an old soul then I feel you will enjoy and relate to this book. I have always felt the odd one out and that I have never belonged in this world. This book has explained so much. It is a short book and it didn't take long to read but it was so worth it. It also does have a questionaire at the end of the book and it was spot on. I loved doing it as it was quick to do. A really great book of old souls.

About the Author
Chris McNab is an author and editor specializing in military history and military technology. To date he has published more than 40 books, including A History of the World in 100 Weapons, Deadly Force, and Tools of Violence. He is the contributing editor of Hitler's Armies: A History of the German War Machine 1939-45 and Armies of the Napoleonic Wars . Chris has also written extensively for major encyclopedia series, magazines and newspapers. The author lives in Llandarcy, Wales.

The flamethrower...

This Osprey Weapon Series book is about the military use of the man-portable flamethrower. It is an inherently squeamish topic, as the author acknowledges upfront, but flamethrowers have been around since the First World War because they undeniably have military utility on the battlefield, as the author demonstrates. In a brisk 80 pages, author Chris McNab walks the reader up through the development of a man-portable flamethrower during the First World War, and its refinement in the Second World War, Korea, and other conflicts. The narrative includes a fascinating analysis of the technical difficulties involved in building a safe and portable weapon, and of the tactical challenge of including it within a unit scheme of maneuver. The concluding chapter touches, briefly, on the legality of the use of incendiary weapons in combat. The book does not address, other than in passing, the use of flamethrowers on military vehicles, apparently a subject for another book. The text is nicely supported by a interesting collection of period photographs and modern illustrations. Recommended as a good introduction to the topic.

Concise e-book describing pre- and post-production best practices and tips for shared workflows with other departments. As described, not written for users new to FCPX. Good images taken from FCPX's UI that scale to different devices (but benefit from a larger screen). This edition seems to have been hastily copy-edited and the book is rather brief, but Mr. Matzdorff has good suggestions for increasing efficiency and flexibility using FCPX features that aren't immediately apparent on the program's surface.

Excellent Piece for Late Beginner

I like this piano piece because it is a beautiful piece that is easy enough for a Late Beginner/Early Intermediate pianist to handle. It does require understanding of holding tied notes through opposing melody lines, hands over skill, and changing clef signs...but I find it to be an excellent 'dessert piece' for students to show off with! The 'Simply Classics' Series is an excellent one.

Won't open!

I downloaded this to my kindle and it will not display the sheet music. Just the cover. UGH! This is the first book for kindle that I have not been able to read and it is extremely frustrating. Maybe you have to do something different to open it, but I can't see what. I'm trying to open it on my computer now.

Music is 'great' - condition only 'good'

The music is great. I love the 'Simply Classics' arrangements for my young piano students. My only complaint is that the music was slightly bent when it arrived. Perhaps had not been taken care of before shipping. I always try to get pristine music for my students' recital pieces.
